Charity Miles

Charity Miles!

Today while scrolling though social media today I found this article on an application called Charity Miles! My understanding of it is that with before every walk or run you choose a charity and then they donate .25 for every mile you do! I know this isn't a lot of money but how amazing is it that now no only will you have a great opportunity to be healthy by running but benefit someone else through charity while doing it! The only catch is that you have to post it to social media (twitter or Facebook) after your activity! I don't know about you but I feel like people post a lot of junk on social media so I think some positive posts wouldn't be the worst thing! Maybe it will start a trend! Being healthy could not only help change your own life but someone else in need! This is a great app so I hope you join me in making this a regular part of my running/walking/biking routine!

The charities that are included in this are:

The World Food Program
Stand Up for Cancer
Every Mother Counts
Wounded Warrior Project
Alzheimer's Association
Feeding America
World Wildlife Fund
The Michael J. Fox Foundation
The Leukaemia Society
ASPCA
Habitat for Humanity
St Jude
Autism Speaks
Team Red
Girls on the run
Dosomething.org
The Nature Conservatory
Pencils of Promise
Special Olympics
Girl Up
(RED)
Crohns and Colitis Foundation
Team for Kids
She's the First
Soles4Souls
Nothing but nets
Back on my feet
Shot@life
The Partnership for a healthier America
Achilles International
The Ironman Foundation
Vision Spring

Join me in this! I think it is so amazing! I think my excitement is pretty apparent here. The list of charities are pretty extensive and I know that they are big organization so many people will argue that the money doesn't go right to the cause.  When you run how are you giving back to society?  Even if 10% goes towards the cause doesn't that help?

Think about it!

So That's Why It's Important To Drink Water!

Drink Your Water and Do It Efficiently!

I have always struggled to drink the recommended water requirements in a day.  I have to make a constant effort to remember to drink water.  The last week I have made sure to follow this article I read about marathon training and have followed the water requirement completely! Surprisingly enough this has helped me feel better, look better and increase my ability to run without cramps!  Who knew water was this powerful! This article states that you should drink half your body weight in ounces.  It sounds a lot harder then it is! I have to drink 65 ounces, which works out to about 4-5 bottles of water per day! I make sure that I have a big bottle of water with me all the time and as long as I do it I go above and beyond my water requirement. I went and bough a big glass water bottle and fill it up to make sure I am not killing the environment on my newly discovered love for water. My tip to you is to do the same! Keep water with you, its easy to access and if you bring your own bottle you can just keep filling it up as the day goes on!

I also found this cute little guide about when to drink water to make it more efficient! I didn't know that timing was important. It makes sense though, how can your body be expected too just get up and go in the morning. I like this picture to because it tells you why its important to drink water at those times.  Have a look it helped me make hydrations progress!

Today we ran 4.3km in 21 minutes.  Thats pretty good right?  We didn't push ourselves to hard but kept a good comfortable pace with no walking breaks! I am feeling so great about this! I really feel like I will be able to hit my goal in this upcoming race! It is within reach and I still have 11 days to go! It is such a great feeling!

My quote for today will definitely be one "Take care of your body, and it will take care of you."  I found this one on Pinterest and love it! It is so true that once you start taking care of your body it does take care of you!

Tomorrow we are going to hopefully run a full 5k in 25 minutes! Wish us luck!

Live in the Moment!

No Monday Blues Today!

This morning I woke up and was actually excited to run! I got some new lulu running swag so that helped me get a little more excited! So a tip to anyone who is feeling a tad down in the dumps, wear something that makes you feel good! It helps you not only get out of bed but it assists you with taking on the world! I guess that may be a tad aggressive but thats how I felt today! I could handle anything in this case running with sore shins was my big challenge.  I am blown away that they are still sore! I felt great after I ran about 5 minutes. My running buddy was perky as ever as well! He is such a trooper! He biked to work today and then ran with me! Amazing right!

We ran almost the whole time today straight! We did 5 km in 30 minutes! I didn't get a cramp, I didn't even notice if my nose was running and my sore shins didn't bug me! Today was a good run! It was so beautiful outside as well which just added to this wonderful Monday morning!

In life it is so easy to not live in the moment.  So much is always going makes its easy to think about the things depressing you, stressing you or even things you have to do.  Today I really focused on the moment and enjoyed the beauty in it.  I usually am thinking of negative things or really anything but my surroundings when I run. The run was breath taking (both by the beauty of it all and my struggle with cardio).  Today take a moment and live in it.  It's honestly one of the best Mondays I have had in awhile and its because I lived it.

Today my quote for the run would have to be "Never forget to enjoy and bask in the beauty of every moment!" I forget to this more often then no and today was a reminder of how beautiful life truly is!

Weekend Trail Running

Weekend Trail Running

This weekend I decided to go run somewhere different!  I grew up in a small town and remember just loving running and biking the trails when I was like 15.  Note to self I am not 15 anymore and trails are tough to run! This is a trail in the city but a little off the beating path.  At first I thought this was going to be easy (the 15 year old me sure did) so I brought my dog.

This run got hard in a hurry and turned into shin splints and rubber legs. To top it off there was a giant hill on this run!  I tried to run up it but I was unsuccessful.  My poor dog helped pull me up the last 1/4 of the hill. He may have gotten a better workout than me. Thank goodness I was to tired to worry about how I looked... A 30 puns dog pulling a grown woman up a hill isn't a good look. When we came home he slept for 3 hours straight! I'm not going to lie... I did the same thing!

I am thinking that hill running is a good thing to keep at though.  There must be a trick to running hills! Anyone have any input?  Also does anyone know any good ways to prevent shin splints?

This run/walk/climb ended up being 5.75km and 12 floors of stairs. I believe this is very successful for a Saturday!

My quote for this run was definitely "Good things come to those who sweat!"  At least thats what I keep telling myself!

The countdown is on for my first run! 13 days till 5k!

10 km Wednesday

10 km Wednesday!

10 km doesn't seem that far right?  That should be nothing to do in one day right? WRONG! When you didn't have a good sleep prior and are not properly hydrated this is quite the task.

I really have no idea why I seemed to think 10 km was going to be a good idea yesterday. I survived it though even with continuous cramps! Mind over matter! Note to self, in the afternoon bring a t-shirt! It was very hot today!  I am impressed with the heat however it did not seem so impressive while I was running. Usually where I live there is a lot of random weather so continuous heat is a plus! My nose wasn't my biggest concern today, I was a sweaty mess! Also I am emphasizing the importance of stretching! This morning I woke up and not only am I stiff but I'm also quite sore. Here is some links to great articles on pre and post running stretches! Do them! Your body will thank you the next day for it!

The final km distance for yesterdays run was 10.75 km! I didn't time it well so I am not 100% sure how long it took. I am contelmplating getting a Fitbit to help with this however, I am not sure which one to get or if there are effective.  I think I would like the Fitbit Charge HR I do have the heart application on my iPhone which works but i am not sure how accurate it is.  Also I have the iPhone 6 plus so its quite the large object to carry around while running.  Anyone have any insight into this?

Overall, yesterday was a good day though! I am glad I did the run but wish I would have stretched and hydrated a bit better.

My inspiration for this blog would have to be "Your body can stand almost anything, its your mind you have to convince."  Think about it?  You are all stronger then you think, I promise!

Tomorrow I will only be doing 5 km in the am but I am going to aim to run the whole time!

Wish me luck!

Throwback Thursday: A little about me!

Happy Throwback Thursday!

So I feel a little rambly today and figured I would give you a little more information on me in case any of you are curious. I also wanted to brag about a great visit I had this weekend!

I was born in Calgary and then moved to Hinton where I lived until I was 18. I guess this makes me somewhat of a small town girl.  My friends may argue this point though, I may be a little high maintenance...

I was so lucky to meet up with one of my best friends from Hinton this weekend! I haven't seen her in years! I got to meet her beautiful baby and fiancé! You know when you are going through a rough time and you talk with someone that feels like home.  Well she has been one of my closest friends since I'm pretty sure I was 6 or 7.  We have been through the good, the bad and the ugly together (you should have seen me when I was a pre-teen). It was so nice to catch up with her and it was so great seeing how even though she has had a hard couple years it is all turning out for the best!  Their family is just picture perfect!

This is us on Sunday!

I have a couple really great friends in Hinton and even though I don't speak with them everyday I am pretty sure every time I see them it's like I never moved away!

I read this quote the other day that says "The people that are meant to be in your life always make their way back into it."  I completely believe that! If you haven't guessed that is the quote that I am basing this blog sesh on!

Well there is a little random insight as to where I came from and little brag sesh about my wonderful surprise visit this weekend!

Life Cleanse

Sometimes when things are going a little horrible a full life detox is what the doctor ordered. I am starting that today along with the million other new things going on!

Here is my recipe for life detox:

1) Evaluate who you surround yourself with! If they don't bring joy to your life cut them out. You never know what someone else's thoughts or intentions are so try not to read into their actions. You only live once, why waste your energy on people that don't value you! Love yourself!

2) Try something new everyday! If it scares you try it (unless it's physically not safe or harmful). These things will help you be you! When you are in a situation that you truly have to push yourself it will show you who you really are and I bet it will amaze you how strong you really are!

3) Exercise! Spend at least an hour a day doing something great for your body! It will thank you later!

4) Drink water! You should aim to drink half you body weight in ounces of water  eor day! Don't deviate from that!

5) Sleep! Get eight hours of sleep per night! If you are aiming to be beautiful inside and out you need your beauty sleep!

If you are going through a tough time try this out! Time heals all!

Cramps and Bananas

Cramps and Banana’s

Well my title is a tad deceiving because today is actually an amazing day.  My day started with a banana and a smoothie which resulted in a crampy run. This made our 5k a little slower then per usual but I am ok with that. Slow and steady wins the race.

I am really loving this smoothie so here is the recipe incase anyone wants to try it!

1/3 cup Strawberries
1/3 cup Bananas
1/3 cup blueberries
1 tbsp flax seed
1/4 cup protein powder
1 cup coconut water

Delish!

Today I am feeling good about everything.  I have had some really grumpy days over the past week. I have learned to really appreciate the good days.

I have started doing this grateful thing in the morning that my best friend does regularly.  Firstly let me tell you a little about this girl, I’m going to call her Vegas because it fits. When we first met she had moved from Vegas to Lethbridge and at first we weren’t really close but our friendship grew and now I don't know what I would do without her.  We both were in some less then desirable relationships for years.  Our boyfriends hated each other and I am pretty sure us too.  They didn't want us to hang out so we had to like sneakily keep in touch.  We would get caught all the time and as I am writing this I realize how ridiculous this all was.  I am pretty sure Vegas’s boyfriend would have fought me if we ran into each other. Anyways she finally left him and I finally left as well.  We both felt so much better and to top it off Vegas found an amazing man who she is now marrying! Her wedding is in July and I am just so excited to be part of it!  I am so happy for them, Vegas is one of the most amazing and kind hearted people I know.  Now back to being grateful.  When I am having a hard time Vegas always asks me what things I am thankful for.  When you are having a rotten day it easy to forget how lucky you are.  Everyone has at least three things to be thankful for.  I am going to share my three things and I recommend that you start your day with expressing what you are thankful for.

  1. Successful recovery
    1. I may be short a finger tip but I have been very lucky to be healing at the rate I am going.  It may look a little different but its getting better every day and I am so grateful for that!
  2. Supportive Parents
    1. I am so lucky to have the support of my parents. Not only have they always been there for me when I am a giant pain in the butt but they have supported my dreams and aspirations.  They helped me get to where I am and I don't know what I would do without them.
  3. Great Friends
    1. I have been so very blessed with great people in my life.  I have such a great support system.  They all help and support me through everything and I am just so lucky to have them.
So overall today has been great!

Now back to running! This am we ran 4.69 km in 27 minutes.  We are getting quicker and we didn't even realize it today! The cramps were really horrible though so anyone have any tips on getting rid of cramps or where they come from? I am running another 5k today at lunch! Hopefully my cramps don't come back! Wish me luck!

My quote today is “I am proud of the women I have become because I fought to be her.”  Through the good and the bad make sure you don’t lose you!

Today I am Full of Questions!

Today I am Full of Questions!

Do you ever wake up and just wonder about everything? Well today thats me! I am have three main areas of questions running, eating, and blogging.  All of these are new and important in my life.  So here it goes!

Running

  1. I noticed I am grumpier when I don't run! Should I start running everyday?  Does anyone know if there is any negative connotation associated with that.
  2. I am also curious as to how you teach yourself to run lighter.  I am 5'10" and 110 pounds, why on earth do I sound like an elephant when I run?  How do you stop doing that?
  3. Do you ever notice that everyone does something different with their hands when they run?  Is there any proper way to use your arms when you run?  I would absolutely be into using them as like a propeller or something to give me a little more speed with a lot less effort.  Ok, i know thats unrealistic but I'm sure there is some science behind efficient arm movement while running.
  4. Water... I know its important but do you drink it before you run?  Are those water packs really necessary?  What distance of running to you require hydrating?
  5. I know I have asked this a couple times (in every blog i have wrote) but any tips on the runny nose?  Im ok with the unattractive part of it but the whole wiping your nose throughout a run is annoying.  Any tips?

Eating

  1. I am curious is it bad to work out in the morning on an empty stomach? A friend of mine is adamant that its ok as long as you aren't trying to bulk up. I don't really think I am ever going to attempt to bulk up so does that mean its ok for me not to eat till I finish running. If its not what do you eat before a run and how long do you wait to let food settle before you run?  Is it like swimming with the hour waiting period?
  2. Post workout meal.. Protein right?  And do you have to use protein powder or can you just eat chicken?  I'm not a huge fan of the protein powder thing but if its necessary i think i could get into it. I mean I did eat a banana the other day! Are banana's high in protein? (probably a stupid question)
  3. Are carbs really bad after 3pm? One of my friends told me I shouldn't have carbs with dinner... I grew up on pounds of carbs and never heard this until now so clarification would be great!

Blogging

  1. Is there any specific protocol to blogging that I should be following? I am ok with just rambling, but I am not sure how successful or entertaining that is.
  2. Does anyone know any good blogs that would be good to add to my reading list?
  3. How does this reading list work?
  4. What about names? Do you add peoples names into blogs or do you use alias names?

So these are my questions today! My day is feeling a little BLA.

Today my quote is "Just keep swimming." Thank you Dory for that one!

Tomorrow I am doing a morning run with my buddy and then another 5 k run at lunch with one of my bosses so wish me luck! 10 km Wednesday Woo! Anyone else in for 10k Wednesday!?

Hopefully I don't embarrass myself too much! Answering my questions could help with the success of these runs! My fate is in your hands!

Inspiration From Boston

Day 5: Inspiration from Boston

Today was the Boston marathon, which honestly is something I would love to be able to do. This probably helped with my perky wake up this morning.  My alarm went off at 6 am and I actually wanted to get up.  I got dressed and even made a smoothie.  I am not good at eating in the am so a smoothie is a giant accomplishment for me however, it was a little thick so lets call it frozen yogurt. I have always heard that banana's are great at giving you energy and never really believed it but I was relatively perky today which was nice.  Did i mention that I am not a fan of banana's?  I honestly didn't think that was going to be the case since I watched the hockey game last night and well it didn't end till 11.  My Mondays usually require 8 hours of sleep to make it through successfully.  Thank you Mr. Banana for helping me with that I am going to try really hard to like you!

Now to the run! Well my and my buddy met up at the office as per usual and he was even more perky then me.  He must have eaten like 5 bananas! We started off with a little warm up (fast walking and catching up) until we got to the river then we ran.  We are getting so much faster! To switch it up and make it a little less watch focused we run to land marks.  We only walked three minutes out of our 4.69 km run and its only day 5. My biggest tip to anyone in the same running boat as me is have fun with it.  If you focus on the runny nose or difficulty breathing you will hate every second of it.  Now I laugh about how unbelievably unattractive I look with bright red cheeks and a pouring nose. It really helps!

I kept track of the race today and was blown away that people can run a full marathon in under three hours! One day I will be in Boston and do that! My biggest goal right now is to run 5 km in 20 minutes on May 10th.  I think that is possible so root for me!

Today we did 4.69 km in 23 minutes with walking so I think I will be able to get there! Day five was a success!

My quote for today is "Anything is possible!" Not only did someone run faster in Boston then i ever thought was possible but I enjoyed a banana! Yay for day 5!

Wish me luck for day 6!

That Was't So Bad!

That Wasn’t So Bad!

Now before you get to excited about this one let me emphasize the SO in the sentence above.  This morning I woke up and didn't completely dread the idea of running.  That's a start right?

My mother let me know that as time goes by I will start dreading it less and that will grow into enjoyment. I still haven’t got a handle on the whole runny nose and heavy breathing aspect of running. I am hoping that comes in time.

Today wasn't as cold though so that helped a bit. Not only was it really beautiful out but my running buddy and I laughed three quarters of the run (I don't know if that's a good thing for the whole breathing part of running). We almost didn't even notice that we ran for longer periods then the prior ones! I even talked him into a selfie! Today was fun!

Did you know you are supposed to keep your core engaged while you run!? Whoever does this regularly is my hero because it is tough! My mother let me know that sometimes when her and my dad run she will poke him in the stomach to make sure that his core is engaged…. Remind me to keep clear of my mother when it comes to running or at least stay a full arms length away.  Did I mention that my mother is a tough cookie so kudos to you dad! He must have abs of steal! So that's your tip for today! Keep your core engaged! You never know when someone is going to hit you in the stomach! Should I try this on my running buddy?

The moral of the story is after day three I don't hate running as much as I did prior.

We successfully ran 4.64 km in 28 minutes! It felt like we went faster today but my app says otherwise.  I then spent two hours trying to recalibrate my phone incase it was wrong…. Its automatic and well its right.  Damn technology!

I have 23 days left before my 5k for Mothers Day! I have to think of what my goal time should be for this run.  Any suggestions?

Quote of today is coming to you from Adidas “A run begins the moment you forget you are running.”

When Life Gives You Lemons...

5 No Fail Tips to Getting Over a Grumpy Mood!

Lets face it life can get tough and its easy to let little negative things take over.  Through some less than ideal times I have came up with 5 low cost, very effective things to turn that frown upside-down! I may or may not have had to do a couple (who am i kidding... all of them) today.

1.     Put on your big girl panties!

If you decided that you give up on a day and just sit there in pout your day is going to suck.  Its easy to dwell on negative when you have a rough morning and things are just not working in your favor.  Put on your big girl panties (or big boy panties) and get over it.  That sounds a little harsh I know but embracing negativity is not going to help you or make you really that enjoyable to be around.

2.     Laugh a little!

Some days are going to suck, it doesn’t mean the world is coming to an end.  Watch a funny YouTube video, look at PInterest at some funny animals pictures or do something that you know will make you laugh no questions asked!  Here is a video that get me every time!

I also took a funny pic of a couple of my coworkers in the spirit of National High Five Day! It definitely brightened my spirits and all those around me! (Sorry guys I had to!)

3.     Eat something you enjoy!

You can’t function on an empty stomach and I am not telling you to each a cheeseburger or fill yourself an unhealthy amount but eat a meal and make it something you like!  If you over eat I hate to break it to you but you aren’t going to feel any better either.  This honestly helps me every time! Treat your body with a delightful meal! Today I had a salad followed with an amazing Nutella donut! If you haven't tried one you really should!

4.     Do something nice for someone else!

Hold a door, buy a coffee, write a good product review, compliment someone.  These are all very easy things to do.  Good deeds are never a waste and they are so easy to do.  If more people went about there bad moods in this fashion how great would the world be!

5.     Enjoy some fresh air!

Bundle up if it chilly out and get yourself some vitamin D! Fresh air and a little exercise will perk you right up!

Today this worked for me! Hope it help you if you need it too!

Have you guested the quote that I based today on? "If live gives you lemons make lemonade." I don't know who originally came up with it but I like it!

Back to running in the morning! Wish me luck!

Day 1: Beep Beep Beep WAKE UP

I know it is completely unrealistic to think that I am would magically become really great the first couple times I ran but it is where my head is at.  I think that is just another illustration of my thought process...

I don't know how better to explain today besides by giving a play by play.

My alarm went off at 5:30 am ok maybe I ignored it until 6:00 am...

You know when you are having a extremely interesting dream and that darn alarm goes off and messes it all up! Well I was going through a breakup in my dream, one that i had gone through about three times in real life prior.  I was on a roll with great come backs and still taking the high road (In my opinion both of which are important).  It was impressive; however, the ungodly beeping that followed it took some gratification away from that not so real moment.

From there I messaged my running buddy to see if he would potentially be up to rain checking the run this am instantly feeling guilty for that message but feeling hopeful that he would agree at the same time.  Not only did he not agree but he also responded that its only 0 so we should be fine and he was on route. Starting off to a great start as a motivational running partner. I rushed out of bed and made my way to the office.  My house is about 15 blocks from the office and I hit an impressive 10 red lights adding to my excitement for the day.

I got to the office (a little late and a little flustered) and we were off our goal was to do 28 minutes and 4.5km.  I read that you are supposed to start off with a 5 minute brisk walk, we do have to walk a bit through downtown Calgary before we get to the river path. It was honestly really beautiful out.  I wish I could have focused on that.  Instead my focus was on the horrible cramp on my right side, my runny nose, the cold air taking over my lungs, the puffy breathing you apparently get from being out of shape and my cold fingers and face.  Did I mention this was all within the first 5 running minutes.  My mother says this is because I am a baby; however, she is a well trained runner and a very impressive woman.  This is adding to my motivation to get good at this because there is no way I am being lapped by my mother at a 5k run. Ok so maybe its not just her who is competitive but I came upon it honestly.

I made it through the rest of the run we finished 4.69 kilometres in 31 minutes which I think is pretty good seeing as we alternated between 5 minutes running and 2 minutes walking with a 5 minute walking start.  I did also complain and go relatively slow until my running buddy caught on to my ploy.

How on earth do you get past the uncomfortable cold air feeling in your lungs and how do you gracefully deal with a very runny nose? Any Tips?

I think a great quote for this run is "If at first you don't succeed try try again."

Well tomorrow is another day!

The Tipping Point

I have never blogged or really ran consistently before but I figured I should probably start with a bit of history as to why I am doing it and who I am.

So I am not a great writer so if anyone reads this well kudos to you and thanks!

I am a 29 year old women (dreading the big 3 0) living in the city just trying to be successful in everything I do like mostly everyone else.

The past years has had its ups and downs... This last couple months have had many more downs. Rather then sitting here having a pity party i'll give you the brief version of it all.

1) Lost a few people in my life that were very important to me
2) Got some huge wake up calls
3) Lost the tip of my finger (the top joint to be exact) using my body to break up a dog fight

The tipping point for it all was well... The Tip!

So minuscule right! (Finger tip anyways) Well when you are missing two very important people you and you are missing a little part of your body that consistently hurts it turns out to be quite the challenge. It also puts you in a big funk which I truly don't recommend staying in for long. A wise man once told me "It's not all about you" so wallowing in self pity is not a solution! I decided that I wasn't going to let myself stay in that sad self pity funk I was in and as a goal orientated person I decided to do it in steps through running.

The process of coming to this really doesn't make sense to me.  I did run a 5k with my family in October for my Grandma who had breast cancer, I struggled the whole race and without my sister I don't know if I would have finished it. haha That's a slight exaggeration but I didn't enjoy myself so I don't know why running seems the answer to everything right now.

Even though every part of my body hurt look at how much fun we look like we are having!

Here is my thought process on the whole running a marathon process! Although the run wasn't per say FUN, it was for a good cause. I also know a lot of really great runners and they swear by it.  My cousin is a Doctor who took up running and that was a big part of her life even adding some life experience to her resume helping her get into Med School.  She has even ran the Boston Marathon! She still runs and has a really great life. I am seeing a potential correlation between success, happiness and running.  And really do you ever hear anything bad about being active?  I don't think so! To top it off it is almost summer and a little extra vitamin D is never a bad thing.

I am also really lucky to have a great side kick! One of my friends has got on the same train as me and will be running with me and potentially training for a marathon (I haven't really told him that's the end goal... I'm hoping to ease him into the idea of it).  He is really great and supportive so I am sure he will be game. Plus he will make sure I stay motivated and show up to our 7 am runs!

Our plan is based on a plan my wonderful Aunt lent me along with a book for reference.  She learned to run doing this plan and is a good runner and one of the best people I know! (Another point behind the running kick) We are progressively increasing our run (starting at 23 minutes) and doing it 3-5 days a week for now and working up to 5 days no questions asked!

The first official run is a 5k on May 10th for Mother's Day! We are going to use this day to do something positive! Both my parents lost their moms over the past couple months which was really hard however neither of them would want us to be sad. My parents also both like to run so my family is going to do this one together!  My mom is also a touch competitive so anything we do together is always interesting.  I also have two younger sister and a younger brother who are going to try to be here to run as well! My one sister lives in the same city as me so she has no choice. She is always a good sport though and a good runner so its not that much of a pain to do! And we cannot forget my trusty partner in crime who I am still in the process of confirming for this race.  I am assuming he will do it though, he is a champ! This run raises money for the Neonatal unit at the hospital which is another area that is close to our hearts as my younger sister who is now 27 lived there for the first couple years of her life. I believe it is really important to give back to the community as well so every run I do will have some link to that.

I'm working on the details in between but end goal in the Scotiabank Marathon in 2016. I know it's a long ways away but I don't think you understand how out of shape I am!  This marathon helps over 400 charities too!

Well that's a little insight into me and the journey that is up ahead.

I'm really into quotes so I will share my motivational quote for the day often and post pictures through this whole running adventure!

Quote of my day from the one and only Pinterest: Don't stop when you are tired stop when you are finished!

Well here is to Day 1! Wish me luck!
